Paid Notary databases

Right now business is not good for some of us. The mortgage crunch and sub prime lender crash is now having an effect on us. But yet new sites that says they will provide you with all the work you need are popping up right and left. These sites are notary search sites mostly and claim the title agents and settlement services contact them directly and they farm the work out to you for a price. WHAT A CROCK! I get a least two emails a day telling me I will increase my work load and income dramatically if only I pay them 29.95 for one year! Here is my thought on this. If work is slow where am I to get the money for ALL the websites that tell me I MUST sign with them for work. And where are they getting the work? The answer ...they do not have work they are now making money off of us. Pay attention and use common sense here. Our work force is drastically changing, most ma & pa settlement companies are struggling just to stay alive and some have already shut their doors. If you do not have a solid base of clients you are hurting. Even then some of your clients are either witnessing their closings themselves to save money or have none and are desperately trying to stay afloat. Use your head here. This is advertising as it’s best. These are just like the NNA and PAN telling you they can help you earn more through their memberships or training. Think about this!!!!!!!! The only person who can provide you with extra income right now is you. Use your notary commission to the fullest extent. Sell yourself directly. Market yourself; do not count on anyone but yourself. You will go further!

Today an anonymous blogger sent an angry response to this post. It stated "PAN has never told its members that they could make more money through the educational seminars they provide. Get your facts straight." At first my reaction was to not post this because of the anonymous part of it, even though I am fairly certain I know who this is. If you felt that strongly that you needed to defend this issue and a business entity, I feel you should at least used some name even just a fake one. But, after some thought I realized that post proved my point exactly. Your leaving an anonymous statement so full of anger to defend a business entity just enforces my thoughts that you are neither unbiased nor neutral on this issue.

My thoughts: I believe the majority of people become Notaries Public to earn money. Although I am sure there are some who hold a commission to help and assist others for various reasons or even holding a commission for your employment requirements. Ultimately the majority of Notaries Public work for a living at this profession. Therefore SOMEONE is still charging and collecting fees.
And the definition of the word career: Career is a term defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an individual's "course or progress through life (or a distinct portion of life)". It usually is considered to pertain to remunerative work (and sometimes also formal education).
A career is traditionally seen as a course of successive situations that make up a person's worklife. One can have a sporting career or a musical career without being a professional athlete or musician, but most frequently "career" in the 20th century referenced the series of jobs or positions by which one earned one's money. It tended to look only at the past.
So let’s take another look at this situation and statement. PAN DOES offer supplies and training to and I quote "further your career as a Notary Public". I would assume that means to increase your earning potential.
So, my statement stands true.

Notary directories, assosciations, and signing services are feeding off what is leaf of the notary population. I do very little paid advertising, relying on my own internet abilities to market myself and my biz. The directories are just awful for the charges some offer. There are many other ways to succeed in this business without relying on directories.
